For all the activity Tony is involved with here at Church Outing, there is a part of the day where no activities are no activities are scheduled. This time is from about 4 to 7 PM. Dinner is eaten, but what to do before and after?
Tony, with his back to us is talking to his friends about the baseball game.
On the night of the big storm, Angelo brought Tony's baseball set, and for the last three days we have set it up just outside our dorm, usually just after supper. The time together usually starts with just Tony and me; usually I'm tossing the ball and Tony is sending it to the outfield with his bat.
Invariably one boy after another begins to play with us. Some have played on "Y" teams or Little league, others have never held a bat. No matter. They goal is to have fun and to learn. I coach those who need help with knowing how to stand, hold a bat or toss a ball, and I shout encouragement as the ball flys away from the bat for the first time.
The parents come and watch as their kids giggle and shout, trot and run around a few minutes of baseball.

Eventually the kids are called away to attend a family function or meeting, and its just Tony and me and I am once again tossing the ball and Tony sending it to the outfield with his bat.
Soon we pick up the bats, gloves, bases and ball, and carry everything back to our room to wait another day when we can play a bit of baseball.
