My Mom and my brother

First, my mom.  She has an appointment with the oncologist today, but her complete path reports indicates that the lymph nodes and the margins of the tissue they took are clear of cancer cells.  This is good since the biopsy showed poorly differentiated cancer and non-cancer cells in the tissue immediately surrounding the mass, resulting in a stage three classification of cancer.  This was NOT good.  So, because of the classification the doctor took a wide margin of tissue to make sure he got it all, and it appears he did.

My mom will find out today if she has to do chemotherapy, though she doesn’t believe she will.  There will be five to six weeks of radiation and five years of tamoxifen.

Now to my brother.  For the last couple weeks he has been bothered by pain in his knee.  At first he and the doctors thought it was a hamstring pull, but it didn’t get better.  Then they thought it was an infection of some kind, but antibiotics haven’t cleared it up.  He is in a lot of pain, and has just been admitted to the hospital.

Wayne is in the middle of an interviewing process for a new job he desperately wants, and is extremely frustrated that he is in the hospital.  His wife is very tired from working, trying to take care of him and their 14th month old child.  They also need our prayers at this time.
