110 Steps to Amazement

Remember that lighthouse we visited a couple days ago? It was the focal point of an imaginary trip to Pirate's Landing.

We went back to it today, and this time it was open. What an adventure to climb those twisty 110 steps to nearly the very top. We could poke our head up through the lens that focuses the beam of light to shine straight out to sea, learned a bit of the history of the lighthouse, and stared in amazement at the view we had - 180 degree view of land and sea. Tony took it all in with the enthusiasm only a five-year-old could have.

To top off this last full day of our vacation, he was invited to help fly a kite, and this he really enjoyed. It was the highlight of his day, I believe.

We leave for the train tomorrow, and will arrive back at home early Sunday morning.
