I mentioned on Thursday about our furnace not working, but Angelo fixed it. I should have said he put a Band Aid on it; a Band Aid the furnace didn't like.
When we arrived home from services yesterday it was giving a high pitched whine much like a seized motor.
Fortunately the temperatures are on the rise for the weekend, but another arctic blast is coming. So, even though it was Sabbath, Angelo took the blower apart trying to fix it, and talked to my dad. The two of them decided it would be wise to call a serviceman. He did, two of the them. The first was booked through the day, but had openings for today - at Sunday rates. The other had openings, but no blower motor available until Monday. However, the guy did give some suggestions to limp us through. So, through the night last night, Angelo got up twice to turn the furnace on and stay near it while it rattled and banged it's heat out.
Right now it's about 66 degrees in the house and Angelo is working on it again. I just hope that he will be wise enough to call the serviceman today if he feels the current motor has limped to its death. My parents have agreed to help pay for the repairs, but he wants to minimize the cost if at all possible.

Well, Angelo called for service, a grizzled guy showed up at our doorstep, looked at the problem and told us he wasn't sure the needed part was at the warehouse. He did manage to get the motor spinning again so we can have heat circulating, but he isn't sure how long that is going to last. After he left the guy checked the warehouse and discovered the warehouse didn't have the part so it's going to be a couple days before the motor can be replaced.
Right now the temperatures are going up about ten degrees a day, but are supposed to plummet again by Wednesday.
So Angelo is going to be calling around to other repair services to see if we can this fixed sooner rather than later.
