Remember my friends, M. and Lee? They moved recently. As they sorted through their stuff while unpacking, they had a desk, "the kids' computer desk" they decided they didn't need anymore. M. asked me if I could use it, and I said I could, thinking of the students I will be having for school this next school year.
Because our friends had to be out of their house about ten days before they could move into their new town home, their stuff was stored between a storage shed and Lee's parents' place.
So today, we met M. at their new town home. We looked around, visited for a bit, let Tony enjoy playing with his friends at their new place, and then followed M. to the storage unit about 30 minutes away to retrieve the desk.
She pulled up to the garage-like storage unit, and got out of the car. We pulled up behind her and waited as she slid open the door. I peered into the dim rectangular space curious as to what was stored in there. M. walked in, looked around and wondered to herself where that desk was.
She couldn't find it, so she called Lee (who was working) and asked him where it was. He didn't remember, but thought that if it wasn't in the storage unit, that it must be at his parents' place.
So we piled back into our vehicles and followed M. a few miles to her in-law's house. No one was home as the kids again jumped out of the car and raced into the spacious backyard. M. got into the house, looked around and failed to find the promised desk. So she turned her attention to the double-car garage that no two cars could get into. It was full of stuff, but no desk.
The kids were having great fun playing hide and seek while M was becoming really confused about where that desk was.
About that time M.'s mother-in-law pulled up and got out wondering what we were doing there. M. explained what we were doing and asked the whereabouts of that desk.
"Oh, the guys put it right there." She said pointing at the garbage cans. "It went with the garbage a couple weeks ago."
