We've had just a hint of snow here, and driving home in it reminded me of another Thanksgiving weekend 19 years ago.
Snow doesn't come very often in Western Washington, but the winter of 1985-1986 was a doozy. November 21-22, 1985 we had a 15 inch snowfall, and it messed up the plans for Senior Recognition at the high school I attended. My own parents became stranded in the ditch while on their way to the program and ended up missing it.
That snow came a week before Thanksgiving, and as those who live in Western Washington know, snow doesn't stick around for very long. The winter of 1985-86 was different; there was still snow on the ground a week later when we left the campus for Thanksgiving.
