Mother's Day turned out to be an interesting, if not a bit nerve-wracking day. Tony decided he wanted to go fly his new kite at a nearby park, after he gave some vacation gifts to his best friends. His friends decided to join us at the park for the kite flying after a bit, so we went on ahead to get our kite ready. One problem, the kite Angelo bought for Tony was a two-handled specimen, and we are the simple one-handled type. The wind was moderate and gusty, so we had a very hard time getting our kite to stay up once we got it up.
Just as we decided to put the kite away and go out for a Mother’s Day meal, Tony’s friends showed up. We stayed a bit longer and helped our friends get their kites up in the air. They even brought an extra one, so Tony had great fun flying a kite in the gusty pre-storm wind.
Later, we did go to the Olive Garden for a wonderful Mother’s Day meal. For Tony however, that was the last item on his agenda. He was just too tired, and fell asleep on the way home, at 4:40 in the afternoon.
About 6:00 last evening, sirens started going off which, in our neck of the woods, can only mean severe weather. I carried a sleeping Tony downstairs, while Angelo cornered Prince and the birds, and got them into a safe corner. Fortunately most of the storm was north of us, but our trees did lose a few dead branches, and our flowering tree donated petals to decorate the road and lawn around it.
So, life is returning to normal. Tony has his friends with him here today, and they are busily taking all the toys out and spreading them across his room.
